S&T at BB and IB at EB (London)

Hi guys, I am choosing between a summer internship (London) in S&T at a BB (Barc/Citi/Bofa), although they are steering me toward sales, and an investment banking internship at an EB (Laz/PWP/Moe). My main priority is maximizing compensation relative to hours both in the short term and the long term. I am concerned about the outlook for S&T, especially on the sales side as automation and AI continue to expand. At the same time, the hours in IB look extremely demanding. I am trying to figure out which path ultimately offers the best balance between earning potential and lifestyle.

Would really appreciate any advice or to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Depends on the extent to which you’re willing to bet on yourself. If you strongly believe that you can exit to a good macro HF after a few years of sell side S&T, then I would go down that route given the upside is “theoretically” uncapped.
