Starting in IB to then quit finance?

Hey all,

Probably not in the normal vein of whats posted here but would love some input. I go to a target school and used to be really into finance. Now I realize that I want to start my own business and work for myself when im young (building furniture, among other things). What I truly want to do is not very capital intensive and has very reasonable and seasonal working schedules. It is something I am really passionate about and could do for the rest of my life. However I likely wouldn't make much money for about five years or so (starting at around 40k). I have been thinking that doing a 2 year analyst position in IB would be a great way to establish a nest egg and give me flexibility in the future. Just work and save almost everything I make to have a solid foundation to transition into my desired career.

Would one advise against this as banking isn't really my passion?

Are there other jobs that pay this well the first 2 years I could start with?

Would love any input or similar stories.

Peace
