Staying In Touch

Had good dialogue with a group that I was really interested in. Talked to 6-8 people at the group but ultimately did not move forward to the Superday. I did receive a call from an associate who said everyone really liked you and you interviewed well, but there were more qualified candidates. They mentioned staying in contact if anything comes up. When do you think is a reasonable time to re-connect? I don't want to come off as needy, but the group checked every box I was looking for and I am having difficulty at the moment getting traction.

It's just a nicety to say that, they don't mean come back in a few weeks. Maybe down the line a few years into FT you can lateral in, but you're not going to get un-dinged for this cycle esp if you didn't even get to a SD.

Assuming this was an internship, groups are fairly willing to overlook experience if they like you, so either something went wrong with your technicals or you weren't a behavioral fit. Even if they don't outright say the latter, that's the case for most candidates who get randomly dinged.

Gotta keep trucking at other groups
