Still no sophomore internship

How concerned should I be if I still don't have a sophomore internship set-up yet? I had been aiming to do PE or similar internship this summer and cold emailed a bunch of places with no successful response.

Should I just try to settle for something less (Wealth Management, CorpFin at tech startup) or keep trying for PE/Boutique IB?

You shouldn't be concerned as long as you are not giving up on your efforts! There is still PLENTY of time to find your dream internship for this summer, just keep at it. If you aren't getting hits on any of your cold emails revise what you are saying or have someone give you advice on what you can do to improve your email template/resume/networking. Make sure you network, network, network, preferably with school alum or people you have some type of relationship who would be more than willing to help you out. Many places would love to have an extra set of hands over the summer, you just have to convince them that you are of value to them. Each "no" brings you closer to one "yes".

My sophomore year I was searching for anything finance related. I ended up with a few ER interviews and converted Equity/Commodity research...in mid-march. Still plenty of time. I know a few seniors and plenty of juniors without jobs right now. As a sophomore, I'm assuming this is your first or second internship. Try IB/PE, but don't restrict yourself. I had a DCM internship my freshman summer and actually learned a lot and enjoyed it despite heading to M&A this upcoming summer. At a younger age, don't close yourself off from other finance roles, take what you can, and find a way to connect it to IB/PE (excel, modeling, looking hours, team work, etc.)

Would you mind sharing how do you find the shadowing opps? emailing alumns? And how do you find the Fall Semester intern in PE? Thanks a lot!
