Still the Worst Cover Letter?

Is this still the worst cover letter?

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Chimp and I am currently an A student at B University. I was recently introduced to your firm via the Investment and Finance society at my university and was impressed with what I learned of X Bank’s role in emerging markets. I am interested in pursuing a Research Intern position at your firm and have attached my CV to my application.

I have previously worked full-time in a start-up. Through this experience raising capital and managing projects, I have gained communication skills and honed idea of what makes a successful company. I also had the opportunity to develop an investment presentation, which led the company to further rounds of investment. Knowledge of what is required to succeed in business will make me effective at asset management and research.

Given my background in Economics and my modelling skills, I am a particularly good fit for the capital markets analyst position at your firm. I am impressed by your track record of IPOs at X Bank, particularly the Triton in 2019, and the exposure to real market issues given to IB Research interns. I look forward to contributing the above skills to future IPOs or foreign exchange analysis in emerging markets.

There are a few achievements of which I am proud and believe will make me an effective analyst:

  • 6-week independent research project, producing a 10-page presentation of my findings.
  • Achieved a 1st Class in courses such as mathematics and probability.
  • 1st Class research presentation at P University summer school.

I would welcome an opportunity to discuss my qualifications with you and learn more about X Bank at your earliest convenience. I can be reached at (phone) or via email at Z. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Chimp

Hopefully, this is somewhat better...
