Stuffiest IB group

hey team,

EB A1 here wondering about dressing culture between groups. My group has a mix but i've noticed around the office that certain groups e.g tmt dress sloppily while others e.g sponsors, natres are suit and tie mandated. is this just MD dependent or do you think there are general bank-agnostic differences between groups?

Best,

Consumer groups tend to be more laid back on dress code, especially on the west coast

TMT don't bother with a suit & tie because they are shifting to where their clients are (outside of Telco / very old media businesses). If you show up in a suit & tie to a meeting with a software or digital market c-suite team who are wearing tees & jeans, you would look bizarre and that influence spreads top down.

By that standard (not IB), the Brookfield Growth team oddly being in a suit & tie and holed up in Canary Wharf probably takes the cake for stuffiest / oddest team for their supposed sector
