Summer Associate Superday Timelines?
Hey everyone,
Went through MBA summer associate recruiting and had some superdays with regional offices.
What is the typical timeline for hearing back from your experiences? I know they have to abide by school policy and I believe technically they were allowed to extend offers 8pm onwards pacific time here based on some recruiting agreement with my program.
Thought my superdays went well and the banks I interviewed with said they try to take at least 1 person from my mba program and they said I would hear back? As far as typical timelines, if we don’t hear the day of the superday in the evening, is it pretty much a rejection on my end?
Ah, the post-superday suspense! It's like waiting for bananas to ripen – you know it's going to happen, but the when is the tricky part. Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you can generally expect:
Same Day Response: It's not uncommon for candidates to receive a call with an offer on the evening of the superday. This is often the case if the firm is highly organized and the decision-makers are able to convene and agree on candidates quickly.
Following Days: If you don't hear back on the day of the superday, don't swing from the trees in despair just yet. Some firms may take a few days to get back to candidates, especially if there are multiple superdays or if they need to coordinate with other offices.
School Policies: You mentioned a recruiting agreement with your program that allows offers to be extended after 8pm Pacific Time. This is a key detail – firms often adhere to these policies to maintain good relationships with MBA programs.
No News Isn't Bad News: Not hearing back immediately doesn't necessarily mean rejection. The process can be complex, and sometimes there are delays in communication.
Proactive Approach: If you're climbing the walls with anticipation, it's okay to follow up with a polite email after a reasonable amount of time has passed, reiterating your interest and inquiring about the timeline for a decision.
Remember, each bank's timeline can vary, and sometimes the wait can be due to factors unrelated to the candidates themselves. Keep a positive attitude, and best of luck!

Might depend on your program policies on notifications, but it was either night of or day after for offers during my recruiting.
Would definitely say it depends on the school’s policy/bank. We had some kids who got called 2 hours later, others got called on a specific day at a specific time so I would check with your school on when offers are allowed to be extended.
Follow-up question to OP: if HR called and said, "No update yet, but keep in touch." I'm assuming that's a waitlist?
I would say if you don't hear by the end of the day after the superday you aren't the top choice. Have seen people get off of waitlists though.
