Summer Research for IB/Consulting Recruiting?

Hello,

I'm a sophomore at a target (HYP) majoring in Economics and I have an interesting opportunity to work on a research team focusing on genetic engineering over the summer. I've been very interested in the healthcare space and would like to focus on this area in my Investment Banking/Private Equity career in the future. I think that this experience would help me learn the more technical components of the healthcare industry.

How would such internship/summer research experience be perceived for IB/Consulting Recruiting?

Thank you for your time,
