Sweet Sweet Victory

Hello all.

I was rejected from my last FO BB Summer Internship application in November, currently accepted a BO markets role.

Then I got a call this morning to let me know that an additional opening is now available and they'd like to offer me the role.

The comp is more than three.. fucking… X… what I'm earning now. My head has fallen off I can't believe it, it just sounds stupid.

Called my Grandad and told him the numbers and he was brought to tears.

I fucking made it! Thank you WSO!

I'll never forget the time I told my family I finally made it and what my salary was. Not only was I a single mom from a blue collar background- I was legit worrying about how to afford shoes and clothes for my kid. Glad to hear this. Enjoy the success.

Like the unadjusted- only with a little bit extra.

Love this positivity! You completely earned it.

In 2020 I did a career switch and remember coming to tears when I was offered my first SWE gig. Life is what you make of it. Continue pushing on and good things will come!

The internship pay is 3x more? Or is this for a full time role? Also, why again, do people on anonymous forums using anonymous accounts, not give tangible compensation numbers? What are you afraid of?

Congrats! It's a great feeling and you should take some time to reward yourself

i remember getting my first offer. I was in an Internet cafe (!) on Broadway and 496) printing out my resume for an interview for an interview with Morgan Stanley on their trading desk when a now defunct bank of great repute sent me the mail. I my was 430pm on a winters day and all the lights were on and I felt like I owned NYC. Two decades later, I can tell you, no one owns NYC

Firstly understand the part of banking you want to enter thoroughly.

Then build a case of why how you've educated yourself about and are motivated to succeed that position (do so by leveraging past relevant experience & projects).

For psychometrics use jobbtestprep and zetamac to increase mental math strength.

Add Bloomberg and other Business outlets to your social media feed to stay commercial aware, read up on the firms strategy and recent moves before interviewing.

Appear pleased, happy and have confidence in your interview but not over excited.

Practice the most important competency questions and have an answer stocked and locked ready to go.

Be prepared to take on a lot of information and make sure to thoroughly understand what case studies are asking.

Taylor cover letters and CVs.

Amen
