Syndicate internship gone wrong
I joined a DCM syndicate internship recently, but I’m realizing now that I didn’t fully understand what the role would be like before starting. The day-to-day work feels very repetitive and operational — mostly monitoring orders, updating trackers, and communicating deal updates. I’m not learning much technical or strategic, and I feel like I’m not growing the way I expected.
The thing is, this internship is supposed to last a full year, and I’m starting to feel stuck. I’m worried that staying here too long might be a waste of time and hurt my chances of breaking into areas I’m actually interested in — like M&A, equity research, or anything more analytical and intellectually challenging.
Has anyone else gone through something similar?
I’m debating quitting soon despite the pay. And I also do not like the hours of 7 to 9 which I’d rather do like 10 to 12.
DO not quit just do the internship and dont come back
