Taking gap semester

Hi,

I’m just curious if banks will consider me as incompetent if I take a gap semester. A little background of myself, I’m in one of decent Canadian university known as having strong co-op program. Meaning, I never had any long break between semesters. I had 2 co-ops so far, but no banking (did accounting and finance related co-ops though) So I’d like to take a term off and prepare for the recruiting while doing what I want for 4 months (and also take some rest) Will the IB/PE/HF or even S&T recruiters consider doing part-time semester or taking a gap semester as incompetent?
