Target Schools in London
Out of curiousity, which schools in London/England are considered target for IB? And out of those schools which are considered better/best?
Edit: I meant UK in general

Career Resources
In London, LSE, Imperial, and UCL.
In London? Richard Ivey.
lol
That's awesome.
UK targets: LSE, Imperial, Oxford, Cambridge, Warwick and UCL
UK semi-targets: Nottingham, Durham, Manchester, QMUL and Bath
is Cass?
Wha about fucking ESCP Europe? We're no.1 in the world this year according to the financial times, and still waiting for BBs to notice. (aside from Morgan Stanley that is, they hold a company presentation in our campus every year.)
It depends. If you have a MSc Management then we will give you a look. If you get one of their other degrees then you are second tier.
QMUL??????? Having a laugh aren't you???
Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, Imperial, Warwick, UCL, Bristol, York, Durham
Then the large redbricks and other London universities- City, Manchester, Birmingham, Kings, Edinburgh etc
Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial
Semi targets are Manchester, CIty, Durham, Warwick etc.
You are wrong. Warwick is not a semi, it is a total target. Every Bank has been to Warwick this term at least once and in a number of capacities - presentations, discussions, assessment centre advice, trading games etc.
Warwick has a massive alum base in the City. Using a Warwick email address will get you at least an informational interview every single time you reach out to someone, even if they aren't Warwick alum
Warwick is def up there
Altho in the UK the playing field is a bit more level for non targets as everyone applies online.
UK targets: Oxbridge,UCL,LSE,Warwick,Imperial
also lol at whoever said warwick is a semitarget(I go to lse fwiw)
What is better for a non target?
A) Banks visiting a couple targets and holding on campus interviews B) Banks doing all recruiting online?
My S&T BB SA class consisted of top 6 mentioned but also a host of other schools that are considered non target.
And going to the same school doesn't hold as much merit as you think. My SA AC consisted of 2 Cambridge maths, 2 LSE econs, 1 UCL econ or maths and 1 Cambridge Econ. 2 of the interviewers that day were from LSE and other two from Cambridge. I was the only who got the offer and I do not go to a target or semi target for that matter.
In the UK, if you go to a non target your resume has a much higher chance of getting looked at, and if you are a strong candidate thats all you need.
Most people I have met at ACs have been from LSE, Oxbridge, Imperial, UCL and Warwick. I have also met people from Nottingham, Manchester, Bath, QMUL and Cass sometimes. Nothing beats LSE though. Last year, one of the main reasons why I got a SA gig at Citi was because the MD interviewing me was an LSE alumnus. When you have 4-5 people in the final round who are very similar to one another in terms of education, skills and work exp, it tips the balance in your favour that you went to the same school as the interviewer.
To post above, that might be markets specific where background matters significantly less to begin with, this however is ibd.
Interviewing with LSE or Oxbridge alumni probably isn't as helpful as if you were interviewing with an alumni and went to a non-target, simply because half the people interviewing will be from one of those schools, and you won't really stand out. That said, the odds that you'll have an alumni interviewing you if you go to one of those schools are obviously much higher.
Kings gets shit for recruiting because LSE alumni hate them so much. And because they're a poly.
Kings gets decent recruiting, Citi goes there.
^^ True. LSE alumni aren't too fond of King's a.k.a Strand Poly!
Rumour has it that someone from King's stole our Penguin and that's another reason why LSE hates them so much!
Yes, it was retaliation for the barrel
But LSE students were already fined £120 each back in 2005. Anyway, I heard rumours that the Barrel will be re-started next year Lent term!
