Technicals to Expect in Lateral Analyst Interviews

I have heard of lateral interviews involving paper merger models and others with very light technical questions. For those in the industry (U.S.), to what extent do you test lateral analyst interviewees on technicals (assuming they came from a similar M&A execution role)?
