The 'Are you interviewing at other banks' question

Hi

So on Tuesday I got a message from a bank asking for some extra details before final interview and one question was 'Are you interviewing at other banks/what stage'. I told them yes an internship and that there was a possibility for it to be converted to full time by this Friday. I replied to the bank HR on Tuesday itself and haven't heard since. They were super keen on me before and explained how they wanted to bring someone on ASAP. Did my response to the question screw my chance???

I don't think so. Most banks know any candidate they think is worthwhile enough to interview has to be attracting attention from other banks. If anything, saying you are interviewing elsewhere should put the pressure on them and give them confidence that you are a high quality candidate. You want to tailor your response to show that even though you're interviewing elsewhere, you are very interested in their bank because of XYZ reasons. If the interview is with your number two or three choice of bank, you still need to make them think that they are your top choice.
