The conflicts btw the SA and my uni.

Hello.

My summer internship will start in the beginning of July. But my summer break will not start till the end of July. And the university won't let me go before the exact ending date of the term. What shall I do now? If I negotiate with HR, will they let me join the SA program a bit late?

Anyone can give me some suggestion? Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!

No this is for my upcoming internship this summer. I don't think it will make any difference to be honest.

Your university won't let you go? What the hell does that even mean?

Talk to your professors to see if you can take the final early. I would speak with your professors on a very personal level before you talk to HR. This of course, will show how articulate and how personable you are.

From my limited perspective, and if I were HR, I'd replace you in an instant since there are many other qualified interns to replace you.

not every university works like your university. There are some certain rules in the world that can not be changed. Also, I assume you are studying in an American university. The universities in the UK have tortally different rules. No one can take the finals earlier here.

Just a note about HR-

They dont actually care about your internship or experience. This could play either way- they ditch you for someone else, or they just need a body to be there as many weeks as YOU can that may or may not get a FT offer after.

I am not sure that a conflict is terrible for you, that said, still talk to professors first.

The thing with HR worked for me but that was because the head of my division told them to make it work!

Just a question: do you have to be present at university all the time? If not, ask for three days off during your internship (you will have to explain why), fly back to the UK on day 1, attend presentation on day 2, fly back on day 3. This will cost you some bucks, nerves and time (jetlag inc), but a career is worth more than just that.

I'd find out first what is going to happen if you don't attend the presentation (if its a minor penalty, just suck it up ). You should definitely work on the university side first and only go to your SA employer and ask for a postponement of the internship if nothing else works out.
