Those who went to Corp dev / strategic finance, Are your jobs like this?

So I left IB to go into strategic finance and have been in my seat for a year+ and all is good. 

I expected to work normal hours (9am-6pmish), but was surprised by how nonbusy my actual day to day is. Theres times where I just sit there for 2-3 hours at a time reading twitter or the news etc, almost every other day. I kind of love it.  With no work to do. I constantly ping my team asking if I can take on anything, start new projects, etc. Nope. No complaints was just wondering.
