They have had an IBD group before these acquisitions. Think I had a recruiter reach out around ~'18 or so, so they cant be that new
When I think citizens IB all that comes to mind is that cringey tik tok from barstool where the girl is flexing that her husband is an “investment banker” but he actually works at citizens in Cleveland lol

They've been making a huge push to grow it over the years via acquisition. I see some interesting flow from them. Nice folks to deal with.
Citizens has a sizable b/s so they have a decent presence in the LevFin space.
They are dumping money to try to acquire talented juniors from what I’ve heard. Usually
companies tend to deal with those that they receive lending from, so a B/S helps in longer run attracting deals
I've heard their juniors work pretty long hours, which could mean deal flow is good (like it was for everyone over the past year before this summer) or they're just pitching hard obviously.
The foundation of their advisory business was a shop in Cleveland and a boutique in Atlanta called Childs Advisory who spun out of Suntrust I believe. Those acquisitions worked well so they kept acquiring and in the last year bought JMP (a full service MM IB) and DH Capital (boutique tech advisory shop).
Culture is probably very location dependent as they're probably all going to retain some of the legacy culture from the shop they acquired.

decent LMM-MM levfin team in boston (and charlotte too I think?), some of their people move to MM private credit firms in Boston, or just to bigger LevFin shops. A buddy had an offer frrom their levfin team as a 1st yr associate, was $130k base if I remember correctly.
A1 base is 175k in capital markets
