Guggenheim has been building out their IB platform over the past few years. They are really very good at doing complex securitization financings and ABS originations. The advisory side has a strong deal flow but the size of the deals can vary significantly. I have heard junior bankers get worked pretty hard there with long hours and weekend work. Guggenheim has one of the more rigorous interview processes. I know few guys that interviewed for IB SA roles that did not make it past the 1st round. I have interviewed for positions in the Santa Monica office for the Asset Management business and they were some of the hardest interviews I have gone through.

I actually heard the exact same thing as well from a friend at Guggenheim who interned this summer. Of course some interns were busy, but the pitch / live work didn't match the size of the intern class, leading to some people in his class not having much to do. Could just be that Guggenheim overhired for the summer or had a lighter amount of dealflow this summer than normal .

I have done business with them in Houston in their O&G lev fin group. Great resource for me and my clients. Seemed pretty "down to earth" in that group and I always like the way they look at assets and cash flow. Know one of their MD's in real estate in NYC casually but never did a deal with him.

The silverback in me encourages you to explore explore explore..... sorry I can't be more specific.
