EVERCORE???
how's moelis in Houston? heard they have great culture
Top EBs in Houston are PWP (TPH) Evercore and by a sizable margin. Moelis is a solid office but is a sizable step behind. Lazard isn't really in the picture.
Culture-wise, Evercore's relatively rougher while TPH and Moelis are a bit better (all 3 offices get sweaty when deal flow is busy though).
This was super helpful, thanks - curious if you could speak about exits for those three banks (PWP-TPH/MOE/EVR)?
Haven't really interacted with folks at Moelis or Evercore lately so can't really speak to their exits (a guy from Evercore left to go work Corp Dev at Tellurian recently, but that's about all I know)...TPH will place you in most of the energy PE firms WHEN they are hiring (EnCap, NGP, Quantum, Tailwater, etc.). That's the tricky part with the O&G PE shops is that depending on the macro of the market, they may or may not hire a new batch of associates. I think EnCap hired new associates this summer for the first time in 2 (maybe 3) years for their traditional fund? It's been pretty quiet.
Anecdotally, have heard TPH has really fallen off since Maynard left. Might still place ok but doesn’t sound like a great place to work now.
