To my fellow rising juniors, enjoy this summer! It’s most likely your last at home!

For my fellow rising juniors. If you're on this forum, like myself you have been so caught up in SA recruiting and have forgotten that this is most likely your last summer at home. It hit me today when I was talking to my parents about living in NYC next summer and they had a proud but somber smile. Made me sad, especially knowing I owe all my success to them. I know we’re so focused on the future and getting there as fast as possible but please try and spend as much time with your family this last month!

hit me too today, except im a rising soph with a soph summer nyc internship which sucks because im gonna be away from all my friends who are home having fun next summer. Weird when you spend your whole life in one room to think about only living there for week/month breaks in college now. I guess let’s enjoy it while we can, at least you had 2 college summers home

I promise you you will have more fun in New York. So much to do for young people. Keep an open mind and don’t get into the FOMO thinking trap

Second this. I’m from the Midwest but doing a sophomore IB internship in NYC and I’ll be back in NYC for 2023 at a different firm. I personally wanted to get out of the town I was from thinking I’d exhausted the fun I could have there, and I’m having an amazing time in NYC. Luckily for me, a fair amount of people and close friends from college are here, but realistically even if you only have 1 friend that’s enough to go out with on the weekends and have fun. Sometimes though I feel like I desire growing up fast too much and feel selfish for not giving my parents a last summer with me, and the relationships with friends from home have suffered as I also go to a different college than them. Regardless of your decision, try not to spend the summer comparing it to what could have been if you chose differently.

Sucks for us sophomore interns, freshman summer was my last summer :( 😂

Kinda crazy man, I'm currently on the west coast which is the flip opposite for me as I have lived and go to school on the east coast. Family visiting one another and messaging how they miss me and wish I was there and all, hearing my mom being kinda sad that Ive been gone so long, etc. It gets emotionally draining but hey we all grow up c:
