To those who lateraled into a competitor after working alongside them

Quite curious because I've heard of a few (not many) stories of this happening. To illustrate what I mean: you're working on a transaction for a PE and afterwards, they might show interest in hiring you as they are looking to recruit to fill headcount. Or maybe you worked alongside another bank.

Whether it was IB or PE, how did you do it? Who initiated the interest?

Thanks!
