Most popular groups are M&A CSA REGLL and Industrials in NYC. Would preface that we dont really have an industrials group, its mostly just chemicals and mining.
Are any of the LA groups considered top tier and compete with the NY teams?
What does that even mean lol. People who work in LA are either from LA / went to school in LA or are desperate Canadians who just want a job in the US. Its obviously a top tier franchise but no one is "choosing" between NY M&A vs LA. You cant even apply to both LA and NY afaik
I meant regarding exits and things like that. Is the NY office seen as better or more prestigious?
LA has sexier dealflow, NYC is a glorified MM shop (excl. RX). Only go for NYC if you want to live there. LA is known as the higher quality office
Is the mining team any good? How are exits from there?
They are led by arguably a top three banker at the firm (Doug Pierson) and have been on several high profile transactions since January. One of the best groups on the street for what they do. Unsure on exits but I'm sure they're strong
Any insights on the CSA team?
Very strong and have been on many notable LMEs the last few years. Probably in line or right below HL and below EVR/PJT

Whatre REGLL teams' exits like? Is it on par with the product groups or is this just in terms of popularity.

Any thoughts on the PCA group? Seems to be growing fairly rapidly within Moelis
Second fastest growing group at Moelis, internally getting a lot of respect and deal flow, however still a little too early to tell how it’ll end up

they are solid and definitely picking up steam. Too early to tell still but the revenues starting to come in and they led Moelis to a QoQ beat per their latest earnings report. Wesley is a dawg
Is the LA office primarily entertainment focused? Or do they cover other sectors

M&A is the best in NYC but you will not enjoy your life in the slightest.
LA office, HCS and CSA were historically best for exits from 2022-2025 but ultimately comes down to the person more than the group as far as exits go at Moelis (M&A had strong placement this past year).
Anyone have thoughts on life sciences NYC? Deal flow seems decent per announced transactions, but seem to lean on smaller side
Heard from a buddy that headcount is pretty small but the group accounts for a decent chunk of the firm’s total fees
