Do companies like CPP/OTPP/Omers/Oxford/HOOP hire straight out of undergrad? Specifically investments teams (PE, Infra, RE, Equities, etc)? If so any insight on when applications come out?

Career Resources
Almost all of them in Toronto have new grad rotational programs. OTPP also opens up spots in specific investment teams for new grads. They typically look for candidates with IB or solid buy side experience (i.e. other pensions)
Keep in mind it all depends on market conditions though-last year HOOPP, CPP, and OMERS didn’t run the rotational programs (Omers initially posted for one but ended up closing it). I imagine this year it won’t be so different either, but who knows.
Thanks for the insight. Do you think if I currently work at a small PE fund and have previous corp dev experience I have a shot? Incoming senior trying to break into the pensions.
Only one way to find out big man
If I’m being honest I think it might be a bit tough. You certainly have great experience don’t get me wrong, but remember you’re competing against other new grads who have done IB or top buy side internships. There’s a lot of candidates and very limited spots in the environment which makes it pretty difficult. I know because I’m speaking from personal experience, as I was in your shoes a year ago.
Obviously this shouldn’t change anything, you should still apply and if you can try to get ahead of others by studying technicals and practicing modelling. Good luck!
Hey man, quick question: How modelling intensive were the interviews?
It's definitely possible but you needa know your stuff well. It's competitive but you do have a unique edge with the PE fund experience which bankers don't. If you can lean on that and perform well in interviews you have a shot
