Transfer to More Prestigious School?

I am currently a freshman at a semi target school. It was not my first choice, but I'm pretty happy with how I'm doing academically and socially so far. However, I came from a small town average public high school and coming to a pretty good school made me realize how many opportunities and how much potential I lost out on compared to a lot of my current classmates who went to elite private high schools with better connections, resources, academics, etc. I couldn't pick my own high school, but I can choose my college and I want to aim as high as possible.

I applied to colleges pretty conservatively with a realistic list with basically no guidance from my counselors since nobody applied to upper tier schools where I'm from. My high school stats were pretty strong and I expect to do fairly well first semester.

My question is, is it worth attempting to transfer from a semi target to a target school? I'm not particularly set on IB(I don't think any freshman can genuinely be lol), but in general better connections could help in any finance field. Also put this in the IB forum because it would be the field where transferring might matter the most for. If I were to transfer, I'd want to do a sophomore transfer because my high school stats were strong and I feel a junior transfer is pretty late to start again socially and with academic relationships. I know a lot of people try to transfer from a non target to a semi target or target, but I'm wondering if anyone has gone from semi target to target and if they felt it was worth it.

My school seems to be decent with placement. That's why I'm not sure if the bump would be worth a transfer. Most private target schools would also end up being cheaper than my current school as well. I can PM you my school if you want, but I'd rather not post here. Is there any particular reason you chose not to transfer at the time?

Hey PM me if you want more info. I was pretty much in your situation and chose to transfer, but it is really all dependant on the school you are at and ones you get into.

I think you should transfer. I'm at a semi target too, and seeing the opportunities other kids at better school having, I really want to transfer. However, I'm stuck with the current school's fin aid, simply can't get much fin aid as a transfer student. If $ ain't a problem for you, then go for it.
