Transitioning into IB from ER at the MD level - looking for advice

Hey monkeys -

I am looking for advice from any monkeys that have experience transitioning into banking after a career in ER. Or perhaps there are some younger monkeys that have worked for someone who came over from ER.

I'm wondering what to expect. What will be my biggest challenges? What should I be doing to ensure a smooth transition?

By way of background, I first started coming to WSO about 10 years ago during my MBA. At the time I was an aspiring research analyst looking to score an internship at a BB in NYC. Fast forward 10 yrs..and I now am a lead coverage analyst on a smaller sector (NYC BB) and have a developed a good brand due to my frequent appearances on CNBC plus tons and tons of press including WSJ and all the other major papers.

Anyway, I am now being pursued by a boutique IB shop in NYC where I would run banking for my coverage sector (biotech). Focus is M&A (and some debt). It sounds ideal to me, so I'm wondering what I'm missing. What's the downside? Where could I screw up? What should I be asking them before I join?

I'm nervous to get advice from my colleagues given the sensitive nature of this topic...people would talk. So here I am, looking for any insights from anyone that's made the jump at the MD level. Thanks all.
