Trends affecting the investment banking industry?

Long time reader first time poster. I have an interview coming up and wanted to know if any working analysts/associates might be able to share their insight. What trends do you see affecting the investment banking industry over the next couple years? From what I found is that a lot of the growth will come from LatAm and Asia due to their rapid growth. Can anyone add insight into what trends I should read up on? I want to be ready for any questions that might be thrown my way. Thanks

Im assuming you're asking where IBD is getting most of its business from?

Shale formations and cloud computing are the two predominant drivers of US dealflow right now. Then you have the usual tech deals involving small startups to supplement their offerings as well as banks selling off foreign units or insurance units to "cut costs and focus on more profitable areas". Whats more, many of the European banks have to do this to meet new requirements.

There doesnt seem to be too many US deals involving Asia lately, certainly not as many as you would expect with the way everyones banging on about China..
