Trivial Question
I am currently interning at a hedge fund, and everyone here uses a dual monitor setup. In IB is it just a single monitor for the analysts? I know this question is not important or relevant, but it's just that dual-screen setup makes multitasking and large spreadsheet work SO much more efficient.
Not sure, if ppl in M&A and corp fin need dual screens. But where I interned, I saw the traders in trading floors having as many as 6 screens.
having multiple screens is common for traders
everyone at my office has a single setup (boutique M&A), and we do just fine. im about to bring an lcd from home to the office next week though. its gonna be a funny sight... md and associates with single lcd and the lowly intern with the dual monitor setup hahah hopefully this will open up my MD's eyes and dual screens for all! i dont know why we don't have dual screen at the moment. it would totally up productivity like crazy. i'll see how things turn out next week.
bankers do not need dual screens
I've primarily seen it for Traders. The further from the trading desk you go, the less screens you get.

I saw one trader with 6 or more screens at a 2nd tier bank. Heard he was a High Yield Trader.
I guess trading is that intense that they need it.
The only IB guys I've seen with a dual screen are infrastructure....their models go out so long that it was handy for them to see as many years as possible.
Oh - and MDs of course.
Traders are not the only ones who use dual+ screens. Granted I
i have 3, the person next to me has 4.
