UChicago Placement On Par With HYPSM?

I am not a UChicago student/alum or related at all. I just see their placement across EBs/BBs (especially Morgan Stanley and Evercore), Warburg Pincus/KKR/Blackstone placement and I am baffled. Are most people just cracked there?

To be honest if I knew about UChicago placement in high school probably would have ED there.

Coming from a UChicago student, no it isn't. Everyone apart from a few FT kids are not going to flagship buyside funds you mentioned. Most of those go to H/W. We are not even a target for Evercore btw. I'd argue that competition hear is ez af tho.

UChicago placement is not on par with HYPSM, there are no seats you can get UC that you can't get from HYPSM. Benefit of going to HYPSM over UC is that you're in a real college town where you can walk around safely and where 90% of the student body isn't autistic

Bro really used HYPSM as the yardstick for finance recruitment lol. UChicago is definitely on par or better than YPSM. If you don’t place, it will not be because you went to UChicago so would pick your school based on other factors.

ok yeah tbh H/W are elite buyside. But since i go to one of Y/P/S/M, Uchicago on a pure placements level is definitely up there

UChicago has very strong placement into Chicago IB offices, who like to hire folks with a Midwest hook. In those offices you’ll find mostly Chicago, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Indiana grads and relatively few HYPS grads. There’s also a good private credit and hedge fund scene in Chicago (Balyasny, Citadel spin offs, etc.) and some of them hire directly out of undergrad.
