UGA Corsair Society
I will most likely be attending UGA next year and just learned of the Corsair Society. It is for students interested in finance careers. Anybody familiar with it or have any thoughts on it? If so, please share. Thank you.

You may have brought this up in another thread but have you considered applying to a public with a better presence on the street? UNC, UVA, GT, and UT come to mind.
Corsair is great. Take it from someone who currently attends UGA, Corsair is responsible for UGA's alumni presence in all the bulge brackets and many middle market investment banks. They typically take in 15 students each year and have achieved 100% placement into investment banking, management consulting, and S&T each year.
PM me with questions if you have any
Tech doesn't have that strong of a presence on the street, though it's starting to widen. As someone already posted, the Corsair society is a great way to get to NY. I had the opp to meet a few of those guys, and even though they seemed pretty stupid, they still landed in some great groups.
If you wanna do S&T, though, doing engineering at Tech would be a big one-up. Most people in NY haven't heard of either school to be honest.
love the bluntness
km190, I am a current student at UGA as well, and have recently changed my major to Finance with dreams of getting into IBanking. How does one become a member of Corsair? I searched for it via google, but didn't find anything too specific about what it takes to be accepted.

Any of you guys heard about the corsair society? I only found it this week, looks interesting. I may apply for it next semester.
Yeah, I was involved in Corsair as an undergrad until I graduated this past December. Now I'm on the Alumni side of things. The selections for membership are not made until October each year so you have some time. They usually only look for Juniors (occasionally a senior) who are in the internship search on Wall Street. consulting jobs are included in the organization as well as any high finance jobs such as PE, HF, or VC. Just make sure you keep an eye out for any information regarding Corsair going out over the Terry finance list-serv.

Thanks for the reply, I'll be a junior this coming year. How selective are they do you know? I messed up freshman year and suffered the consequences but have A's in every major class including both accounting's, and I am currently in a very good analyst internship.
Would you say joining was worth it?
