You can come to the info session, I really don't care and if anyone gives you shit, Ill give you my number and come let you in the backdoor if I have to.

For an info section, they're not going to be checking IDs. IIRC the business school used to hold these at Wohler's Hall.

UIUC is ranked #2 in Accounting by US News and #5 in Engineering with a median ACT of 33. (Both programs rank ahead of all Ivies that offer the degrees) So make sure you have a presence on the engineering campus as well. Don't forget that Engineering, Physics, and Math traditionally have steep curves at Illinois- typically to about a C+/B- average. So if you find a math/stats heavy Actuarial Science major with a 3.3-3.4 GPA, that's actually a lot stronger than it looks.

I am actually making a presentation at the school of Engineering, too.

Oh god. I understand the MIT vs Harvard threads, but UIUC vs. DePaul? Really? I thought that we were too mature for this.

They're both great schools. DePaul has a lot of strengths that UIUC doesn't. In particular, UIUC has a factory-line education system where they have everyone take a 9-digit number, dump 500 people into a lecture hall find out who sinks or who swims, and lets Darwin take care of their sinkers. UIUC also suffers (ok, some folks would say benefits) from a party atmosphere where a lot of folks are too drunk to get their studying done.

Both place folks into banking and trading and both turn out a number of soon-to-be multimillionaires outside those fields every year. You guys really aren't competing against each other. If we can come up with candidates who can thoroughly embarass the folks who think we only need to recruit from 15 Northeastern schools, that gives everyone more clout to save more FT slots for the UIUC recruiting session next year.

Excellent. Make some friends with the folks at the ACM SIGs and maybe the Business & Engineering club. In particular, ACM and Engineering Open House is a great place for recruiting folks who can pull all-nighters.

Make sure you get someone with an engineering background to ask some technical questions in an interview. You tend to find that the best interviewees don't have 3.8 GPAs but rather have 3.5 GPAs and a few really interesting projects.
