UMich Ross, Cornell AEM, Duke Trinity or Penn CAS for IBD

Hey guys,

How would you rank these 4 schools based on the amount of analysts sent into front office roles (primarily IB) at the top banks? Also, if any of you have evidence (SA lists at banks, access to resume books, etc.) to back up your statements, then that would be great. Thanks a lot!!

just no. no. no.

UPEN CAS / Duke Cornell Ross

this is from a pure recruiting standpoint. If you want to add having fun, how can you go wrong with sick sports seasons?

Duke Ross the rest

Do business schools like Kelly and Ross place most of their students into front office positions, back office positions or a mixture of both at BBs? I've been looking at the placement reports but want to make sure I'm not comparing apples to oranges since I'm almost positive that banks only hire Duke and Penn students for IBD/S&T (Front Office).

Based on a cursory look at LinkedIn and the Ross B-School placement reports, it seems that Barclays, MS, CS and BAML don't really recruit at all or very lightly at Michigan while the recruiting is pretty strong across the bulge brackets at Duke and Penn. Ross seems to do pretty well with the elite boutiques though in comparison to the other schools.

If you are a current SA, to what extent are these schools represented in your analyst classes if at all? I'm trying to help my sister's friend out.

Dude I'm gonna say one thing. I go to Duke and a TON of people go into banking. It's not even funny. I don't really get the comparison between target schools- they are all very similar. Idk about Ross recruiting, but it's probably a great time and if you do well you will get a job. A few of the people I know at GS are from Ross. But the main thing is that if you do well you can get in from any of these schools. But I personally feel that Duke would offer the best opportunities if for some reason your mind shifts away from banking in the next few years. Penn CAS seems like the question at interviews would be "Why not Wharton?"

Also if you look Duke's recruiting statistics for 2010 the tops wemployers include BAML, GS, MS, DB, and Google. All seem to pop up on here pretty often as place people wanna work.
