Do MFs or other large PE firms really care about where you went to undergrad even if you are at a top bank (GS,MS,EVR,PJT,JPM,etc)? I couldn’t imagine it mattering but after looking through this forum people seem to say that it does and that going to a target undergrad is necessary to go to a large PE after an analyst stint.

I have had the same question because I thought a role at a BB would grant exit opportunities (appropriate networking) to an extent of which you preform.
