Undergrad with junior year IB offer at a BB - is it bad to do nothing this summer?

As the title says, I have an IB offer from a BB for summer 2026 (I'm class of 2027). Is it bad if I just work as a caddy/waiter this summer in my home town and have fun? Or should I try to leverage my past internships/upcoming offer into a PE summer 2025 internship (which I think I could do). I guess it feels meaningless when I already have a banking offer, but I suppose the networking from a "real job" this summer could be valuable. Idk... part of me just wants to have one last summer of fun before real life starts.

Exactly this
Or do nothing at all. Why do you guys think you should do anything?
Even do nothing at all if you want to- nothing will be like this again

There’s plenty of useful things you can do. Work for a start-up, do a chill internship in a space you’re interested in, explore a passion. Travelling or doing nothing for 3 months is whatever, but it’s more rewarding if you’re also doing SOMETHING with your time that you think will be additive to your career or life (especially since you have no pressure to do much in an internship, etc).

Also…real life? What the fuck man. You have 2 more years of college where you don’t have to recruit at all assuming you get a return offer. And then 1-2 months after graduation to literally do nothing. Real life is far, far away man.

quite dumb to do imo lmfao, why get rid of the potential experience from your resume

might be a hardo answer but would 100 percent sweat to get a real experience sophomore summer. different game nowadays, ppl are coming into their junior yr internships with real skills and experiences - important to make sure you are coming in prepared.

also, if you want to do PE or a buyside role after banking the summer will help you explain your interest in investing.

also, in general would say soph summer is way chiller as you aren't stressing about a return offer, so it's still a cool opportunity to learn, live in a new city and simultaneously have fun on the weekends as there really aren't too many stresses

Having work experience both part time during school and during soph summer was helpful in more ways than just getting reps in, especially since I had no exposure to the industry beforehand. Good to make and learn from small etiquette mistakes when the stakes are low / no return offer being competed for. Make sure to have fun though
