I don't think you understand the meaning of "underrated"
moelis do be a hidden gem
I mean like, what are some banks people don’t generally focus on for LA area but happen to get good deal flow? (doesn’t have to be the bigger banks, can be local boutiques too)
Ducera Los Angeles - started by a bunch of ex-HL LA guys, brought in some good deals (Hertz, 24 Hour Fitness)
Idk about this
Hertz: representing $3 billion unsecured noteholders 24H: representing $850mm term loan AHG Jo-Ann Stores: representing $850mm term loan AHG
Intrepid
seen that name around a lot but they might be boutique enough / local to take sophomore interns I think - idk if that’s necessarily a bad thing but yeah seen this bank for some smart people I’ve met before lateraling or jumping elsewhere at least
any specific names that maybe come up for sophomore summer recruiting purposes mainly?
any others?
if you are asking for other ‘good’ banks that take sophomores / have some name recognition over your random local IB / boutique and isn’t as formal as big IB sophomore programs, I have no idea. By virtue of being regional, it kind of removes that capacity.
however many big name brand middle market banks acquire or have offices of those ‘random no name boutiques’ and have that brand. All recognized banks have acquired other banks that have good teams and put them under their umbrella. It might be hard to find but yeah I’d suggest asking / going on capiq or something. piper jaffray cowen etc have bought small random boutiques in random areas I think where people are able to summer for sophomore year. the banks big established banks may buy probably won’t take soph summers but idk. hope I helped
There was a super long post by @synergy last year that had a list of 60~ firms
I have been summoned!

Any word on RBC LA? Most people just talk about how it's new - what's it really like?
