US Banks in London

Of the US Banks, which has the largest presence in London? I know Merrill is pretty big over here but I haven't really noticed much of anyone else.

Further, do US banks in London typically hire Europeans or do they send guys over from the States? I'm not asking specifically for hiring out of school. I am currently an analyst in London with a US boutique and am looking to move to a BB or larger bank for year 2.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

BofA got me, so they're doing great.....Hehe. To answer the question, although I don't even work there yet, they hire from Europe and the Americans seem to be internal transfers. Most people hired (or at least 8 of 10 that I saw at interviews) had mother tongues other than English and had attended universities across Europe.

Checked your profile.....and....thank goodness your "here" isn't my "here". Alright, BofA probably isn't people's first choice over here either, but it was mine. And I got it, so I'm happy with that.

Anyway, maybe a bit off topic in this thread. =)

I've loved every bit of BofA so far (we'll see how much fun actually working there is), and I ended turning down interviews at much bigger firms as soon as I got the offer. I'm a bit of an entrepreneur myself, so the idea of being with BofA from it's very humble beginnings in Europe to whatever it can become is pretty exciting. And I should be the only Finnish speaker in the building, which might come in handy. And I should definitely be the only Finnish-Swedish-Norwegian speaker in whatever team I choose. So, BofA may not be what the Ivys are going for, but I think it's got a future and potential to grow in Europe.

kimbo slice... people at B of A actually look like they got laid (without having to give out their Credit Card info) before getting into banking... unlike a LOT of people i've met at other banks... my guess is you're like these fags out there that were unattractive dorks for all thier life, and who now think they are the shit because they can do well in an interview or two. Overall, I'd say you're a cunt.

haha coming from a guy who's still interviewing for a summer job, that's a laugh. I don't even know what "truth" you're talking about - the guy is clearly excited about the summer job he landed, so leave him alone. You're a total douchebag, ripping on people and the places they work without having spent a day in the business.

Great to hear that I'll be sharing the building with people at the top of their game.

I did say that I was potentially the only Finnish speaker (not Norwegian/Swedish), and most likely the only Finnish-Norwegian speaker. That won't make much difference, I realise, but it's nice to stick out somehow (it sure did at interviews, anyway).
