Use custom email for recruiting? Professional or pretentious?
I set up a custom personal email ([email protected]) a while back because I wasn't able to get a gmail account with a clean address (ie, there'd be a bunch of numbers after my name). I will soon be sending a bunch of cold emails for recruiting and am just curious if having this email address would hurt me in any way? I thought it would be professional and help if anything, but I've heard otherwise. Would love to get your thoughts.
Entirely subjective, but in my opinion this is cringe and feels self-important for someone who is cold emailing for job opportunities at the junior level with no credentials. Try other email accounts for one without numbers as there are many options (Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, iCloud etc.); alternatively, add middle names / initials etc.
