Volunteering while working in IB

To the IB guys already working: Do any of you at the analyst level do volunteer work (charity, hospital, library, etc...) on the weekends? Or is this simply not recommended. Any input would be great. If you do volunteer, what places do you recommend?

Thanks!!

Let the MD's save the world, your job is to do pitchbooks, eat, and sleep....anything else is a luxury.

Gekko, alot of your posts are great but this is such terrible advice. If you can get through your job well and have the time to do good go ahead and do it. Many of my friends work at chartities, soup kitchens, etc. Sure it isn't often but it's better than nothing

we're not saving the fuckin manatees here guys

If you want to get your MBA and jump ship, you need to make time. There's no difference between someone who does Habitat for Humanity six times a year and someone who does Big Bro / Sis every weekend because every applicant will embellish the crap out of it anyways and no school will check up on it unless you make some absurd claim.

Wherever you end up, you will always have time to put in two hours at some point once every 1-2 months. No one works 110 hours a week, 52 weeks a year.
