Wasting my time?
I am currently a rising 2L, but I have recently decided not to continue my legal education. Before applying to school, I debated between the law and IB. I now know I should have pursued the latter. I have a liberal arts major, from a non-target school, though I am looking right now at some programs that offer an MA in Accounting or an MS in Finance. The plan would then be to graduate and start at the ground level as an analyst, then work, then B-School, etc. I realize I would probably be a little older than those others in my analyst class.
Would these programs I am considering provide the experience and the exposure to make me marketable; would a firm consider hiring me? Would the MA in Accounting be seen as overkill if I wasn’t planning to sit for the CPA, but instead just wanted to compensate for the non-finance major?
Any advice is appreciated.

How are you going to explain that you didn't finish when you've already finished the hardest year (assuming you didn't fail your classes).
Your best way into IB would be to keep your grades as high as possible in law school, keep yourself focused and don't dwell on what a mistake it was. Don't start over, by doing an Msc Accounting, do that shit after you finish your law degree.
Several boutiques have recent JD's (pm me for further info) and it's not a bad thing. Believe me, don't quit.
By the way, which law school?
If I were you, I would try to take as many business classes at the business school of your university while you are doing your law degree. List them on your resume when you apply to boutiques, MM's, and BB's, in 3L and you may have a shot.
Everything I've told you is bullshit though if you're law school isn't reputable, i.e.-top 50 or higher in the rankings.

It is apparent that you havent done any research regarding the correlation between law school and entrance in IB at the associate level. Many BB hire law school students at the associate level and provide them with adequate training to get them up to speed. Dropping out of law school is the absolute worst thing you could do. A law degree is extremely versatile (assuming you are at a good program).
I agree with Brayn. Don't quit. If you even get interviews it would be real difficult to explain (especially since your reason seems to be you don't like it). You may get the job you want right out of law school. If not, then go get the masters.
I will tell you the masters can help get you where you want. I know some people from Kelley (Indiana) got into BB from there. But, that's not where your head should be right now.

He's trying to backdoor it, and I just don't think he can be confident about is chances. Definately finish the JD.
