Webcam Lateral Interview Attire
I have a first round webcam interview with an analyst early next week for a lateral analyst role. My question is it okay to just wear a button down or do I need to wear a full suit and tie? I feel like it's weird to wear a full suit and tie on a webcam with another analyst.
Follow up question is what level of interviewer seniority constitutes wearing more than a button down?
Maybe I'm overthinking this, in which case roast me.
Thinking of marginal cost and benefit here.
Benefit: they expect a suit and you are in one.
Cost: they expect a suit and you are not in one. Or, you are in one and they think youre a squid.
I’d throw one on. Business attire for any interview is typical
Bump
Done plenty of virtual interviews the last year for lateral stuff. Wore a suit every time unless the person specifically told me beforehand hey no need for a suit just be casual. If with an analyst they probably don’t expect you to or care either way, but in the off chance they are a hardo and were expecting you to wear one just wear it
Tie too or just suit and button down?
Tie. It’s an interview dress like you want the job. There’s no possible downside to wearing suit and tie while there is downside to not wearing it. It’ll take you an extra 5 minutes
