What are the UMM/MF funds that people in top IB groups would immediately accept offers from?
I would love to hear any answers from this list (aside from the obvious Apollo, Blackstone, and KKR).

As much as this site looks to pretend GS analysts are holding out on TPG to wait for a KKR offer, my experience has been that basically every analyst is taking the first UMM/MF offer you get.
Unless it’s either a vastly different strategy (you want growth focused tech and get an offer from industrials) or the wrong city, on cycle is such a fast process that you take what you get. Hopefully you plan interviews well and are only interviewing somewhere if you would take the offer immediately, but in on cycle you are taking what you get 99% of the time and no one is actually splitting hairs between the top ~20-30 UMM/MF funds
Thanks! This was a helpful explanation as I try to understand the PE landscape + it also explains why the talent at some of the top UMM funds (Berkshire, CD&R, etc.) match/exceed many MFs.
If someone gets an offer from CD&R, they’re likely taking it on the spot. Same with Berkshire if you’re interested in Boston.
The way on cycle recruiting works, either of those are awesome places to be and you just don’t have the ability to be like “eh let me ask CD&R to wait a few hours so I can take my shoot at KKR”.
