What buyside role to tell headhunters?

Currently a LevFin analyst at GS/MS/BAML. Want to transition to buyside (specifically Growth Equity shop). Background is heavy in debt, but familiar and proficient in modeling (practice and taught through self). Is it okay if i told headhunters I want to go this route, even though my background is debt focused?

GS/MS LevFin is a markets desk where you spread comps and try to get the products to sell through the trading desk and BAML LevFin is a debt powerhouse, no, they're definitely not the same. Judging by the fact that you self-taught yourself modeling I assume you're at GS/MS LevFin. Your best bet is to speak to your deal experience in terms of financing and try and spin that into a story where you want to work on financing for growth equity.
