What Calculator is Issued to Incoming Analysts?
Incoming Summer 2024 analyst here. I know that most bankers use the HP-12C but I was wondering what version banks issue to their analysts. I'm asking because the original 12C from 30 years ago only uses RPN, whereas the more recent platinum version has an algebraic option. Just want to know if I should invest time in learning RPN, or if I could "get away" with using the algebraic option on a platinum.
Holy nerd
Well deserved answer 😁
I have a Ti-30xiis, but really jealous of my MBA associate who has an Abacus that he frequently uses
My bank uses Microsoft Excel
You will likely receive a PC with Microsoft Office installed
He’s building models on paper and they’re giving him coloring books for decks
Four function printing calculator. Your desks are also issued those green-shaded lamps like in the old movies
I would elevate losing ur virginity to be a higher priority than worrying abt which calculator ur firm gives u
Very helpful thanks!
If this is a troll this is well executed
RPN is more intuitive once you get used to it. Which takes about 5 minutes.
I have heard if u come in with the wrong calculator u automatically do not get a return. Hope this helps
Username checks out
Shutup
I hope they give you an abacus.
You have to do mental math if you’re going to make it in IB. Just like you do modeling without a mouse, you have to learn to do calculations without a calculator.
why don't you calculate how to get some bitches first
This post is solid gold. All the comments are gold too
I’d roll with the HP 12C. On my first day, my MD snatched my trusty TI-83 and started punching violently at the keys before handing it back to me and cussing me out.
Also, don’t forget about your Patagonia vest and blue light glasses. Chicks dig em
Y’all be getting calculators for work? I just been using excel
You're adding subtracting multiplying and dividing, dweeb. Get over yourself.
