What differentiates J.P. Morgan from other investment banks

I was going my research on different investment and I wanted to know specific qualities/ aspects that differentiate JPM from its competitors in investment banking like MS, Goldman etc.

I would highly suggest networking with some current bankers there. That way, you can get some sound bites from them on why they joined as well as use your talking to them as a reason why you want to work at JPM.

Agree with this. There is a lot of good that can come with having a huge balance sheet to lend and woo clients with. Then again, there's also a lot more bs you have to put up with.

Hi all,
I'm currently going through the process of applying to some of the BB banks and keep getting stuck on this question: What differentiates each bank?
For examples: Which products are each bank particularly good at?
I'm finding it quite hard to come across this information - Most of the propaganda on the websites doesn't reveal much, and no bank is going to admit that they're not good in any one area.
I was hoping people could discuss which areas each bank are particularly strong in, and what makes them different.

It depends on which bank your looking at, but some clear standouts
Goldman- TMT Barclays- natural resources Morgan Stanley- M&A Credit Suisse- sponsors
How big your bonus is.
Also the thing about banks is that in the past couple (and next couple) quarters, investment bank profits are gonna be more about sales and trading as opposed to offerings/M&A
