What does it mean when an analyst/VP asks for your resume?

So basically I have zero social IQ when it comes to recruiting and analysts/a VP have asked me before for my resume either before or after our call. Should I take this as I'm being referred or do they just really like seeing resumes before tossing them? Taking the small victories where I can but also can I.

You're overthinking it. If it's before a call, it's to get a sense of your background to help better guide the conversation. If it's after, it's to have it on-file / to be circulated somewhere in the system / to be polite if it was brought up during the call. If you get asked for your resume after a call, it's never a bad sign though. If it's in the thick of recruiting season for on-cycle SA/FT, follow up after a week. If it's a off-cycle lateral hire, follow up after a week. If it's off-cycle for SA/FT (for instance, now), follow up after a month just to keep the lead warm

No it just means they want to see your resume

If it's good, maybe they'll pass it along, but it's just helpful to get a sense for what type of person I'm going to be speaking to
