What exactly is the CRG group at JPMC

I have noticed that there is no information on wso about what a CRG analyst does at JPMC. They recruit for this role at my undergrad and so quite naturally I checked out some of my school alumni who work this job. Everyone of them list this as an investment banking analyst role but from what I have searched it is equivalent to the DRG group at goldman which basically caters to the data pull requests from the FO analysts. I think one other difference is that these analysts are not a part of any specific deal teams unlike the FO analysts. Can anyone who has worked at JPMC or knows someone who did confirm if this actually is an investment banking job, if not would the learning be anything like the front office roles and if it is worth it.

CRG is staffed as deal team support and will generally do simple ad hoc tasks that can take the deal teams time (think research requests, scrubbing, formatting, etc). They generally don’t handle a model or anything too complicated (this is a function of both time zones (generally based in India) and training/skill sets).

Thanks, this clears a lot. Also, do you think this could be considered meaningful work exp for a top mba?
