What licensing/prerequisites are required to open a small investment bank?
I am a career commercial real estate broker that specializes in retail space in Manhattan, NYC. I have a close network of both business owner and investor contacts. There has been a handful of times that I have helped a tenant find the investment capital needed to open a new location, which results in a commission. I believe I could facilitate a tremendous amount of business if I put together a small shop and leveraged my own relationships to put deals together. Essentially, I would want to raise capital for small businesses and advise on deal structuring.
What do I need to make this a legitimate enterprise? Any important insights I should consider?
How are fees typically calculated/charged?
I worked at a boiler room and had a Series 7 & 63 20+ years ago. I am fully prepared to take a Series 79 if required. This wouldn't require a broker/dealer license... right?
I am grateful for the advice
Laborum in vel quam quasi quidem. Totam veniam in et dolor. Eos quis mollitia voluptatem natus sit.
