what percent of monkeys will ever break $300k/yr?
in their lifetimes, factoring in burnout/being bad at the job, etc

Career Resources
I'd guess at least 1%
beat me to it
I have no idea, but I would estimate maybe 15-20%?
By monkeys do you mean people on this website or a new class of analysts?
a fresh new class of analysts
With inflation or without?
Obviously inflation adjusted.
OP, are you writing a Wall Street compensation report or something? lol, this is your 4th question regarding comp
Haha I like the way you think
i am actually
If you can get into BB IBD, I would imagine most exit opps would lead you to make 300k/year eventually. PE, Corp Dev, VC, HF, etc all have positions where breaking 300k is possible. The only exception to this I can think of is maybe philanthropy, but assuming you don't burn out at any point in your career and can hold steady, it seems very possible.
a fresh new class of analysts? 30%.
When we start massive QE to monetize our debt , EVERYBODY!!!
40% of an incoming BB analyst class
I'm just hoping to eventually reach 250K.
how are you planning to pay for that aston?
Haha, very good.

You might be able to buy That Aston
Not the most PC term, but yea... this is what it's called
300k a year is nothing. A buck a year is where the line should be drawn.

Aston Martin Cygnet anyone?
And either I'm extremely naive or interpreting this wrong (is 300k just base? or total) but 300k does not seem like a lot at all, and if that is supposedly a "good" comp package at the end of your career then why exactly is everyone lining up to do IB? after NYC taxes and cost of living, 300k is barely enough to put the kids through private high school.
if you want to make that kind of money then be an airline pilot. same pay, maybe a little bit less, half the hours and you get to fly to some pretty awesome places without living in the hell hole known as NYC. and you have a relatively secure union job with a good pension.
$300k total comp or $300k salary?
