What processes haven’t opened up yet?

Basically, I’m a sophomore at a non-target in all the top finance organizations. Had some really good strides with upper middle market firms but the processes fell through. I’m now sitting here with not much coming down the pipeline in terms of interviews. I am wondering what reputable firms have yet to still open up there process so that I can proactively network ahead of them opening up. Either names of firms or resources to track would be helpful. I currently use Adventis and IB NA Trackr to watch openings but I feel like they aren’t efficient enough. I want to look forward and see what firms haven’t opened, not just track which firms have.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights into firms that may not have opened their processes yet or are still early in the recruiting cycle:

  1. London-Based Firms:

    • William Blair: Applications for their June intake haven’t opened yet.
    • Jefferies: Recently opened applications last week.
    • Arma Partners: Typically begins recruitment in January for their July intake.
  2. General Observations:

    • Some satellite offices of investment banks in less desirable locations often have open positions later in the cycle.
    • Firms like Stephens, FT Partners, Guggenheim, Brown Gibbons Lang, Mizuho, and Duff & Phelps are known to have open FT positions during September and early October, though it may be too late for some of these opportunities now. However, it’s worth keeping an eye on their job boards as positions can open sporadically throughout the year.
  3. Resources to Track Openings:

    • While you’re already using Adventis and IB NA Trackr, consider supplementing these with direct networking efforts. For example, reaching out to employees at firms you’re targeting can provide insider information on upcoming openings.
    • Keep an eye on job boards and forums like WSO, as users often share updates on firms that are still recruiting or about to open their processes.

Proactively networking with professionals at these firms and staying updated on forums like WSO can give you a competitive edge in identifying opportunities before they’re widely advertised.
