What to do after ECM?

Looking for advice from people who left the high finance world after their analyst stint especially if you didn’t do anything related to finance at all. I’ve spent the past few years in ECM covering an industry I’m not interested in but has good deal flow. The wlb, team, and pay is good but the job is mindlessly boring and I’m not sure I want to be a career banker. People don’t really leave my team and when they do they go to coverage and I’m not interested in that.

For people who have made a major career shift, how did you know it was time and how did you figure out what to do next? I’m afraid to do anything because I’m afraid I won’t be any happier and will have taken a major pay cut.
