When is help coming?

First year at a mid-tier BB in an M&A group (BAML, Citi) getting absolutely slaughtered this month. Honestly work was pretty chill during last week but have since been sleeping at 3am. Are there going to be any reinforcements from laterals or even expanding our next year's class?

Also, have any of you guys had a chill week since the start of January or has it been 100hrs with no light week sprinkled in?

Not OP, but first year at a similar bank as you. I feel like the lateral market is dead because anyone who has wanted to lateral has had the opportunity already, is the next line of support the next graduating class?

Nah I think it's still pretty hot right now - just go on linkedin, sort by "posted in 24 hours," you'll see a bunch of shit everyday. I actually expect the lateral market is explode (way more than it is now) in July/August right after the analyst bonuses are paid. A combination of the usual 2nd years leaving and the outflux of first years. Plus, once associates see that much junior attrition, they'll need to decide whether they want to stay on for another 8 months to collect another bonus or dip.

Good news is that markets are in the midst of taking a shit - I hopefully these next few weeks will be okay. Stay strong, brother.
